Get Answers to Your Questions About Our Fat Freezing Treatments in Mount Pleasant, SC

Below, our specialists answer CoolSculpting® FAQs, from price calculation to candidacy to what to expect from the process.

Is CoolSculpting® Right for Me?

Appropriate candidates have distinct areas of fat (such as outer thigh bulges, chin fat, or love handles) that they would like to reduce but have been unable to do so despite achieving and maintaining a healthy weight range with appropriate diet and exercise measures.

Will the Procedure Help Me Lose Weight?

While CoolSculpting® can make an area smaller, it is unlikely to have a significant impact on the body’s overall weight — nor should it. Unlike a gastric bypass or other types of bariatric surgery, CoolSculpting® is not meant to be a weight loss procedure or treatment for obesity. It is purely meant for targeted fat reduction in specific areas of the body that do not diminish past a certain point after following a healthy exercise and diet regimen.

How Long is Each Treatment Session?

How long is a CoolSculpting treatment?

As we mentioned above, our DualSculpting treatments are particularly efficient for patients who would like to treat multiple areas. We also ensure that we always possess the latest versions of the CoolSculpting® applicators. The newest one, for example, cuts down treatment time from an hour to just 35 minutes per area. At our practice, the total duration of a session is between 35 minutes to two hours, depending on how many areas are treated during the same appointment.

How Much Does CoolSculpting® Cost? How Many Sessions Will I Need?

CoolSculpting® prices and the number of sessions required can vary significantly from patient to patient, as they are determined by individual factors. These typically include the size and number of areas to be treated, and the extent of fat reduction you wish to achieve. We can provide you with a personalized quote and treatment plan during a consultation.

For patients who would like to work on multiple areas, we have the ability to perform DualSculpting — the use of two CoolSculpting® machines simultaneously — to ensure you get the most out of every treatment session at our practice.

During the first few minutes of a treatment session, you will feel some pressure or suction (unless non-pinchable fat is being treated) and an intense cold feeling in the treatment area(s). Our patients usually adjust to these sensations very quickly, spending the rest of the time reading, working, listening to music, or even taking a nap.

After treatment, you may experience some mild to moderate tenderness, a possibility of bruising, numbness, and/or swelling. These are common side effects that fade in the days following the procedure. Most patients have been able to resume their regular activities immediately after a session. We will provide you with a more comprehensive list of what to watch out for during and after CoolSculpting®.

Are the Results Permanent? What Happens if I Gain Weight?

Because the Cryolipolysis® process effectively kills fat cells, they cannot grow back. For long-term maintenance of results, we strongly recommend staying committed to a healthy lifestyle with appropriate diet and exercise, as the remaining fat cells in the body can grow with significant weight gain.
